Back in May I was introduced to the wonderful world of FOREX. FOREX stands for Foreign Currency Exchange. It is more or less a giant market of international trade of money made possible by the virtually ever changing exchange rates of money. The smallest changes can result in the gain or loss of hundreds, or even thousands of dollars, depending on your odds and investment.
I use a company called InterbankFX. I've been paper-trading with them since May. Paper trading means trading in the actual market with play money (nothing to lose). It's a wonderful way to learn how the FOREX market works. InterbankFX also offers what they call IBFXU which is an online "university" to learn the basics of FOREX. In the FOREX market like any other traded market there is the ability to automate trade with a computer program. InterbankFX calls these automated C++ (Version 4) or Visual Basic (Version 3) programs Expert Advisers. I've played with the Expert Advisor FrankUD quite extensively but haven't had a whole lot of luck.
At a glance FOREX is a great way to invest your money, if you have enough experience to know how to do it right. I suggest allowing a company who has a proven track record of automated programs to grow your money, as opposed to diving in all on your own. One smaller company I'd suggest looking into is International Currency Strategies LLC. This company has a local Phoenix office and was co-founded by Dennis Lambson, a life-long CPA and a member of the Mesa Rotary Club.
